Student Success Graduate Assistant

Scope of Responsibility
The School of Health Sciences and Wellness (SHSW) is hiring a Student Success Graduate Assistant who will assist center staff with recruitment and retention programming, along with helping undergraduate students prepare for the challenges of health and wellness careers or graduate school.  
 

Specific Duties

  • Assemble communication pieces to promote student success strategies and opportunities.

  • Assist with the internal components of the prospective student communication plan, including sending postcards and contracting program directors with new admit. Information.

  • Help coordinate events and career preparation activities using Suitable/PATH.

  • Meet with students enrolled in HSW 100 to assist in development of individual student success plans.

  • Represent SHSW at various recruitment events, including high school visits, ViewPoint Days, and Admitted Student Days.
     

Skills/Requirements

  • Enrolled in one of SHSW’s graduate majors.

  • Able to work both fall and spring semesters of the academic year, 10 hours each week.

  • Willingness to learn and reliability.

  • Adaptability.

  • Critical thinking.

  • Confidentiality compliance (FERPA).

  • Attention to detail.

  • Well developed communication skills (verbal, written, listening).
     

Qualifications and Compensation
To qualify for this position, applicants must be in good academic standing with the University. The at least 10 hours of work each week during the academic year (no holidays, limited weekends). Wage = $16.95/hour.
