As a Pharmacy Technician, you play an essential role in keeping patients safe and comfortable throughout their experience. A caregiver in this role will work a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule, totaling 72 hours per working week. Shifts include five days from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and two days from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with every other weekend included in the rotation. Holidays are only worked if they fall during the scheduled week, and there are no on-call requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma/GED
Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
Basic computer skills
- Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
- It is required, within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
Six months of hospital experience
Prior inpatient experience
Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
Personal Protective Equipment:
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
