Job Description Summary

The Engineer – Lab Infrastructure & Process Facilities Design and Execution will support the design, analysis, and execution of laboratory infrastructure and process facility systems across test and research laboratories in Bengaluru. This role will work on lab infrastructure projects and facility modifications involving compressed air and gas systems, thermal systems, process utilities, test rigs, furnaces, and associated piping and utility networks.

The position requires application of engineering fundamentals in EHS, safety, FMEA, P&ID preparation, layout preparation, piping sizing, flow analysis, piping thermal analysis, and support structure analysis to help deliver safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient lab operations. The engineer will work closely with Lab Operations, EHS, Facilities, Sourcing, and execution teams to support projects from design through commissioning and handover.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support design and engineering of lab infrastructure and process facility systems for test and research laboratories.
  • Prepare, review, and update P&IDs for process and utility systems.
  • Perform piping sizing calculations based on process and utility requirements.
  • Conduct flow analysis for gas, air, and utility piping systems.
  • Perform piping thermal analysis to assess thermal expansion, flexibility, and related stress considerations.
  • Support structure analysis for piping systems and associated supports.
  • Apply EHS and safety requirements in design and execution activities.
  • Participate in FMEA, safety reviews, risk assessments, and design reviews.
  • Support execution of projects including design coordination, installation support, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders for engineering input and execution support.
  • Review vendor drawings and technical documents for compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, calculations, technical specifications, BOQs/BOMs, and as-built records.
  • Support resolution of technical issues during installation and commissioning.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in safety, engineering quality, and standardization of lab infrastructure and process facility systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and process engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Min 3 years’ experience in lab infrastructure, process facilities, utility systems, piping engineering and project execution.
  • Experience in P&ID preparation, layout development, and process/utility engineering.
  • Working knowledge of piping sizing, flow analysis, piping thermal analysis, and support structure analysis.
  • Familiarity with EHS requirements, industrial safety practices, FMEA, and engineering risk assessment methods.
  • Experience working with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to support project execution activities including installation, commissioning, and handover.
