Legal & Compliance Specialist

I. ROLE PURPOSE

The Legal & Compliance Specialist identifies and assesses legal risks, manages contract lifecycles, and ensures regulatory compliance across F&B operations. This role acts as a strategic partner to internal departments, providing practical legal recommendations to support business decisions and maintaining the integrity of the company’s legal documentation and licensing requirements.

II. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Risk Assessment & Contract Management

• Identify and assess legal risks in daily business activities and contracts, analyzing them within the context of the overall business flow.

• Draft, review, and revise contracts and legal documents, providing practical recommendations to support implementation.

• Support contract negotiations to ensure alignment between terms and actual business practices.

2. Regulatory Compliance & Licensing

• Ensure compliance with F&B laws, including tracking and managing licensing and post-licensing procedures for restaurants.

• Monitor legal and regulatory updates, reporting potential impacts to the Legal Manager.

• Maintain and organize legal documentation and filing systems to ensure accessibility and accuracy.

3. Stakeholder Support & Project Coordination

• Provide timely legal support to internal departments (Operations, Finance, HR) to clarify requirements and resolve issues.

• Coordinate with external regulators and counsel under the guidance of the Legal Manager.

• Support the Legal & Compliance Manager in executing legal projects and workstreams.

III. SUCCESS METRICS & KPIS

1. Contractual Accuracy & Risk Mitigation

• % of contracts reviewed and finalized within established SLAs.

• Zero significant legal penalties resulting from contract oversights or unassessed risks.

2. Compliance & Licensing Fulfillment

• 100% on-time renewal rate for critical business licenses and permits.

• Timely identification and reporting of relevant regulatory changes.

3. Stakeholder Satisfaction & Issue Resolution

• Average response time for internal legal inquiries.

• Successful completion of assigned legal projects and documentation audits.

Key Influencing Factors for KPI Achievement Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Success depends on the timely flow of information from Operations, Finance, and HR regarding business activities and contractual needs.

• Requires effective coordination with external legal counsel and government authorities for licensing and specialized legal matters.

IV REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education Background

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB)

• Preferred: Admission to the Bar or relevant professional legal certification.

Language Proficiency

• Required: English – Advanced (Fluent in both written and spoken legal/business English)

Minimum Experience Duration

• 3+ years of experience

Relevant Experience

• Required: Experience working in law firms or in-house legal departments with a focus on commercial law, corporate matters, and contract management.

• Preferred: Specific experience in F&B, retail, or multi-location operations.

Stakeholder Influence & Collaboration

• Required: Proven ability to work cross-functionally and support internal stakeholders as a reliable legal partner.

Industry or Domain Expertise

• Required: Advanced knowledge of corporate, contract, and commercial law.

• Preferred: Familiarity with F&B regulatory requirements, licensing, and country-specific laws.
