Position Description

The mission of the Anoka County Law Library is to enhance access to justice for all by providing legal information and resources to the people of Anoka County. The department has an immediate opening for a Law Library Clerk, who will assist citizens and attorneys and support the maintenance of the law library by assembling and updating relevant materials

This is a part-time, non-exempt, on-site position. This part time position is based on 24 hours per week. Interviews will take place the week of May 25, 2026 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Work Location

  • This position will work at the Anoka County Government Center, located at 1600 3rd Ave., Anoka, MN  55303.

  • Expected work hours are 24 per week, with scheduled shifts on Monday and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The remaining 8 hours may be worked flexibly.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Law Library Clerk.

  • Provide legal reference assistance to both self-represented litigants and attorneys.

  • Greet patrons and offer support in navigating resources.

  • Assist library patrons in various technological areas, such as using computer, making copies, or faxing documents.

  • Schedule self-represented litigants for our various legal clinics.

  • Respond to general information requests and assist in locating resources

  • Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Requires a high school diploma

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Possess a Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program

  • Enrollment in a school program related to librarianship or the law 

  • Experience with legal resources such as Westlaw, MNCourts.gov, and Google Scholar

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

  • Standard office environment

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness

  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds

  • Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities.

  • Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work

  • Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.

  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment

  • Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed. Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle
