Shipping Manager

Broad Function and Purpose of Position:

Shipping Managers are responsible for various tasks such as packaging, verifying content for shipping, receiving packages, ordering supplies, leading and managing staff. Their main goal is to always ensure timely, accurate and secure shipping and distribution. 

Specific Responsibilities:

• Writes, implements, & monitors work instructions and procedures
• Maintains “Customer First” mentality
• Effectively manages labeling of product as needed for shipments.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization in the department at all times.
• Responsible for inventory control: validation and FIFO.
• Prioritizes workload/scheduling for staff.
• Coordinates shipping activities with other departments: Sales, planning, Customer Service, Production, and Quality 
• Monitors and reacts to department financial targets
• Supervises Shipping Clerks and union hourly personnel (3 shifts).
• Monitors timecards and related payroll duties.
• Performs random audits of staged shipments. 
• Hires hourly/union employees and reviews thereafter.
• Trains employees in Sika procedures and work instructions.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Knowledge of electronic shipping systems: SAP preferred
• Proficient with various PC programs
• Detail oriented professional
• Highly organized
• 3 years in shipping
• 3 years supervisory experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
