Job description
How you'll make a difference As a Recruitment Advisor, you will bring a strong knowledge of HR and recruitment processes alongside a customer-focused approach, to enable South Gloucestershire Council to attract and appoint talented people to deliver essential services to our communities. Working closely with hiring managers you will support them to navigate recruitment with confidence while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, council policies and best practice. You will act as a trusted recruitment partner, providing practical advice, guidance and solutions across a diverse range of roles. Your work will support effective workforce planning, safe and inclusive recruitment practices and a positive experience for both candidates and hiring managers. What you will be doing You will lead the delivery of end‑to‑end recruitment activity, covering everything from advertising and candidate attraction to sourcing talent and coordinating effective selection and recruitment events. Acting as a trusted adviser to hiring managers, you will provide timely, accurate and practical guidance on recruitment processes, advertising options, selection methods and compliance requirements. A key part of your role will be using recruitment insight, management information and metrics to support workforce planning and help managers make informed decisions. It will be your responsibility to design and coordinate recruitment and selection activity, ensuring safe recruitment practices, equality considerations and a consistently positive candidate experience are embedded throughout. Supporting and contributing to organisation‑wide people initiatives and schemes, you will work collaboratively with HR colleagues and wider stakeholders. In addition, you will manage effective relationships with external providers, including agency partners, to ensure high‑quality service delivery, compliance with approved frameworks and value for money. What we need from you We require you to have recent in-house recruitment experience, with clear evidence of delivering successful recruitment campaigns across a wide range of role types. A strong customer‑focused approach is required, alongside the ability to build effective working relationships with managers and deliver a consistently positive candidate experience. You will have experience of producing, analysing and presenting recruitment data and management information to support decision‑making and service improvement. It is essential that you have experience of managing recruitment agency relationships through a formal framework, ensuring compliance, effective performance management and cost control. Although not essential, it would be advantageous to have a CIPD qualification, or evidence of working towards one, experience of mentoring or supporting others within a recruitment or HR environment and/or an Occupational Ability and Personality qualification such as British Psychological Society (BPS) Level A and B. What you need to know This role is offered as a limited term contract until 31st March 2027. Interview date is to be confirmed.
