Job description
As an Aerospace Parts Lifing Engineer, you will join the Bristol team to support our activities within the aerospace sector.
Working with ALTEN, you will contribute to the development and validation of critical engine components, ensuring their safe operation across demanding flight conditions. This role focuses on lifing analysis, integrity assessment, and overspeed scenarios, supporting high-value programmes where safety, reliability, and compliance are paramount. You will be part of a team driving engineering decisions that directly impact the performance and longevity of next-generation propulsion systems.
Location: Bristol
On Site: Full Time
Clearance: Full right to work in the UK
Experience Level: 5+ Years
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform parts lifing analysis for critical aerospace components, ensuring compliance with safety and certification requirements.
- Conduct fatigue and durability assessments, including low cycle fatigue (LCF), high cycle fatigue (HCF), and creep analysis.
- Evaluate overspeed conditions and their impact on component integrity and safe operating limits.
- Support structural integrity assessments, identifying potential failure modes and ensuring robust design margins.
- Collaborate with stress, design, materials, and manufacturing teams to ensure lifing considerations are embedded throughout the product lifecycle.
- Produce and review technical documentation and reports to support certification and engineering decision-making.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of fatigue, fracture mechanics, and structural integrity.
- Experience in aerospace lifing methodologies and damage tolerance analysis.
- Knowledge of overspeed analysis and its impact on rotating components.
- Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, material data, and test results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills within a safety-critical environment.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- 5+ years’ experience in aerospace stress, lifing, or structural analysis roles.
- Experience working on gas turbine engines or rotating machinery within a regulated industry.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with engine certification processes and regulatory standards.
- Knowledge of materials behaviour at high temperature and creep-fatigue interaction.
- Familiarity with probabilistic lifing methods and advanced simulation techniques.
