Job description

The Role

As a Platform Engineer in our Engineering Acceleration Team, you will design, build and operate the Kubernetes-based infrastructure that our engineering teams depend on every day. You’ll work across hybrid-cloud and on-prem environments — spanning AWS, our factory edge and trackside deployments — and contribute to the developer experience tooling that makes the platform genuinely self-service for developers, non-developers and AI-assisted workflows alike.

This is a role with real breadth. One day you’ll be defining infrastructure-as-code patterns or improving CI/CD pipelines; the next you’ll be contributing to incident response, helping teams adopt modern delivery practices, or building the kind of platform automation that removes toil for everyone around you.

What You’ll Be Doing

Platform Infrastructure

  • Deploy and operate Kubernetes clusters (EKS, on-prem via Rancher) across hybrid-cloud and virtualised environments.
  • Define and implement best practices around scaling, security, high availability and multi-tenancy.
  • Use Terraform, Crossplane and Helm to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
  • Build reusable modules and automation that enable teams to self-serve infrastructure without platform team involvement.

Developer Experience & Delivery Enablement

  • Enable application delivery through GitOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines and Helm-based deployments.
  • Contribute to platform tooling — including CLIs, Claude Code skills and MCP server integrations — to support AI-assisted developer workflows.
  • Help teams adopt modern delivery practices through tooling, documentation and coaching.
  • Contribute to the self-service deployment platform that enables developers and non-developers alike to ship code without deep infrastructure knowledge.

Observability & Reliability

  • Operate production workloads with an SRE mindset: measure reliability, define SLOs and reduce toil through automation.
  • Contribute to on-call readiness, incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Apply security best practices for Kubernetes (RBAC, network policies, secrets management) and support audit and compliance requirements.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a platform engineer who thinks about infrastructure in terms of the people it serves. You’ll be someone who takes pride in reducing friction for the teams around you, who brings a continuous improvement mindset to everything they touch, and who can communicate infrastructure decisions clearly to developers and non-specialists alike.

The kind of person you are:

  • Collaborative and adaptable, with a genuine platform mindset.
  • Confident communicator who can explain infrastructure decisions to developers and non-specialists.
  • Self-motivated and pragmatic — focused on outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable working across teams and disciplines in a high-performance environment.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or a related field.

      Essential experience:

      • Kubernetes provisioning and lifecycle management (AKS, EKS, on-prem).
      • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Helm.
      • Containerisation and orchestration with Docker, Helm and Operators.
      • Cloud platforms — AWS and/or Azure.
      • CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions or similar).
      • GitOps workflows (e.g. ArgoCD).
      • Monitoring, logging and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana and Loki.
      • Scripting and automation in Python, Bash or similar.

      Beneficial but not essential:

      • Multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud architecture experience.
      • Security practices for cloud-native platforms.
      • Reliability-focused engineering — SLOs, SLIs, error budgets.
      • Incident response practices and post-incident reviews.
      • AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot.
      • Building developer experience tooling, CLIs or internal developer platforms.
      • Designing self-service workflows for non-technical users.

We fuel our team with a competitive benefits package, including generous holidays, vibrant staff events, a subsidised onsite restaurant, and a range of car schemes. Stay energised with 24/7 access to our gym and free fitness classes like outdoor boot camps, Pilates, and Yoga. With free parking and sprawling green spaces, you’ve got the perfect space to recharge and refocus.

Join a fast-paced, future-thinking team that’s driving innovation and pushing past engineering boundaries.
