Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced Modification / Installation Technicians to support a major rolling stock programme based in Stockholm. Working for a leading rail OEM, you will be responsible for carrying out mechanical and electrical modifications, installations, and retrofits on new and existing rail vehicles as part of commissioning, upgrade, and entry‑into‑service activities.

This role is ideally suited to a practical, safety‑focused technician with strong OEM experience and a background in European rolling stock projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical and electrical installation and modification activities on rolling stock in line with OEM instructions and engineering documentation.
  • Perform retrofit campaigns, upgrades, fault rectification, and corrective modifications during testing and commissioning phases.
  • Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, modification instructions, and work packages.
  • Install and modify equipment such as:
    • Cab and saloon equipment
    • Electrical wiring, looms, and junction boxes
    • TCMS‑related hardware
    • Doors, HVAC components, sensors, and auxiliaries
  • Support testing and commissioning teams by rectifying defects and resolving technical issues.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety, quality, and configuration management requirements.
  • Accurately complete documentation, inspection records, and test reports.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the depot or workshop.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Modification Technician, Installation Technician, or Rolling Stock Technician within a European train manufacturer (OEM).
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant rolling stock experience, ideally on new build or heavy modification projects.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical background in rail vehicles.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Familiarity with depot‑based work on passenger rolling stock.
  • Good understanding of rail safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Willingness to work shifts and occasional weekends if required by the project.

Desirable

  • Experience on metro, commuter, or mainline passenger trains.
  • Knowledge of testing and commissioning environments.
  • Experience supporting first‑in‑class or entry‑into‑service programmes.
  • Previous work experience in Nordic or Scandinavian rail depots
