Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed. Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants. Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient. Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy. Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately. Performs other duties as assigned. Helps in draping sterile field. Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures. Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures. Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Interpersonal Skills [Required]
• Completion of validation skills [Required]
• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up [Required]
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques [Required]
• Knowledge to anticipate critical emergencies of Specialty Call Team [Required]
• Ability to organize, promote, and conduct relevant in-services on unit [Required]
• Proficient in a minimum of 2 surgical specialties [Preferred]
Education:
• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Technical/Vocational School [Required]
• Associate [Preferred]
Field of Study:
• N/A
Work Experience:
• 2+ years as certified surgical tech [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR Technician in Surgery - Certified (NTSC) [Required]
