AECOM's Water group in BC is growing! We are searching for an Intermediate Electrical Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for a full-time position supporting our municipal water infrastructure team. This is a full-time position based in our Burnaby, BC office.
The responsibilities of this position include:
- Deliver EI&C engineering for municipal infrastructure projects across Western Canada, working independently and in coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
- Design and develop electrical systems and documentation, including power distribution, grounding, lighting, cable systems, drives, standby power, and low-voltage systems (fire alarm, telecom, security).
- Specify process instrumentation and control systems for municipal and industrial applications.
- Provide electrical discipline leadership on small to mid-sized projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and sound engineering practices.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, technical leads, and designers to coordinate deliverables and support overall project execution.
- Ensure quality and consistency of deliverables through adherence to AECOM standards, QA/QC procedures, and client requirements.
- Support and mentor junior team members, coordinating workloads and contributing to efficient project delivery.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution 4+ years of related industry and engineering design experience in a multi-disciplinary electrical, instrumentation & control environment;
- Registered Professional in Canada (EGBC preferred)
- Applicable experience in electrical related design and commissioning, preferably encompassing electrical distribution systems and DCS or PLC control systems, motor control and variable speed drives, and instrumentation & control systems for municipal or light industrial environment
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience related to water/wastewater (ie treatment plants) ideally with municipal projects but will consider also relevant industrial experience in electrical power distribution.
- Perform electrical system studies and calculations. Proficient in use of AGi32, EasyPower / ETAP other design tools (REVIT MEP) will be a desirable asset.
- Proven track record in design and production of tender documents such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, control and communication system diagrams, electrical and instrument location drawings, loop & schematic wiring diagrams; developing equipment load schedules, cable & tray calculations, instrumentation list and specifications sheets, standard details; contract specifications, electrical studies and reports;
- Familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and experience in building (fire alarm and communication) systems;
- Proficient in use of AutoCAD and/or other design tools (AutoCAD P&IDs/Electrical, REVIT MEP) will be a desirable asset.
- Prior experience on tendering, construction service, start-up and commissioning, site supervision and field inspection will be a definite asset.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills; proven interpersonal skills, self-motivated, results oriented, ability to work independently and be flexible to perform work under tight schedules in a fast paced integrated multi-disciplinary team environment;
