Job description
The ideal candidate would be a highly motivated, technical and articulate self-starter. The candidate would be comfortable working both independently as well as part of a collaborative group on varying size IT projects. The candidate should also have significant experience supporting mission-critical production systems and environments that require keen attention to detail, rapid problem diagnosis and analysis skills as well as the ability to clearly communicate status and progress to IT leadership and technical peers.
Primary desired skills include, but are not limited to:
• Enterprise MQ Design & Architecture SME– IBM z/OS Mainframe, Midrange Enterprise servers (AIX-Linux-Oracle) and Windows Server implementation and support experience
• Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) MQ integration experience
• IBM DataPower/IDG Expertise (Configuration, MQ Implementation, Analysis)
• IBM IIB/WebSphere Message Broker Expertise (Configuration, MQ Implementation)
• Enterprise Systems Connectivity SME (TCP, Firewalls, LU 6.2, MQ, FTP, SNA, etc.)
• UNIX OS Systems Expertise (AIX, Linux familiarity, UNIX CLI skills, advanced commands and structure skills)
• Java Development Expertise ( JDK, GUI Development Tools, MQ SDK’s)
• Enterprise MQ Front-Line Production & Test Environment support including design, implementation, troubleshooting, problem resolution including root cause analysis.
· Proactive monitoring and diagnosis of production and test environment performance health and stability issues with emphasis on Root Cause Analysis.
· Makes recommendations for improving performance and stability of supported systems
· Reviews architectural system design for any assigned system to help identify potential design issues as well as performance risks or bottlenecks based on poor design/architecture.
· Escalate to management any issues and or risks with recommendations for mitigation/resolution.
Qualifications:
· At least 5 years of experience supporting IBM MQ Series
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills. Has ability to clearly articulate his or her thoughts or ideas both verbally and in written form.
· Ability to communicate with various levels of leadership regarding the technical strategy, direction, risks and issues for any assigned piece of work.
· Ability to work well under pressure and working in time-sensitive, production system outages/issue situations.
· Service Oriented Architecture - SOA Experience (Big plus)
