Responsibilities Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the Director of Donor Communications and Stewardship leads the strategy, development, and execution of donor-facing communications and stewardship initiatives that advance Mercy Health Foundation’s philanthropic priorities. This position serves as one of the Foundation’s senior writers and editorial leaders, overseeing executive communications, signature donor materials, and message quality across the department. Mercy is in a pivotal moment as the Foundation continues the public phase of its 150th Anniversary Campaign. This role supports donor engagement, stewardship, and campaign momentum through strong messaging, thoughtful planning, and clear alignment with Mercy’s mission and values. The Director serves as a strategic communications partner to Foundation staff, executive leadership, and the Office of the President, managing print and digital initiatives while guiding comprehensive stewardship efforts that help supporters understand the impact of their generosity, including annual reports, campaign materials, donor impact reporting, and executive communications. Executive Communications / Office of the President In partnership with the Foundation fundraising team and External Relations, serve as one of the lead writers for speeches, remarks, resolutions, proclamations, presentations, correspondence, and briefing materials for the President, Foundation leadership, and senior executives. Support donor visits, board meetings, campaign events, and other key leadership engagements through messaging and prepared materials. Handle confidential and sensitive communications with sound judgment and professionalism. Donor Communications & Storytelling Lead development of donor-facing communications across print and digital channels, including annual reports, newsletters, appeals, campaign materials, impact reports, and special publications. Translate institutional priorities, patient stories, and program outcomes into clear, donor-centered communications. Ensure consistency of voice, tone, quality, and brand standards across Foundation communications. Production & Project Management Manage designers, printers, and distribution schedules for major communications initiatives. Oversee concurrent projects while maintaining Mercy high standards and meeting deadlines. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Commitment to the mission and values of the Sisters of Mercy. Bachelor’s degree required; related field preferred. Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in communications, stewardship, fundraising, donor relations, or a related field. More than ten years of experience in related field preferred. Exceptional writing, editing, and project management skills with close attention to detail. Experience writing for senior leaders and external audiences. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Min USD $42.73/Hr. Max USD $76.91/Hr.
