Required Qualifications:
Clear written communication, strong information synthesis and analysis skills, and attention to detail.
Demonstrated interest in international finance, international development, and/or Chinese foreign policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
Research experience.
Conditions of Employment:
This position is a temporary (hourly) position not to exceed 6 months.
All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed on average 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year.
This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
This position is not benefit eligible.
This is a restricted position, subject to the continued availability of funding.
Posting Rate: $15.50 per hour

Job Duties:
Research Assistant - 100%
Collecting, coding, and quality assuring data for AidData’s Chinese Loans and Grants (CLG) dataset.
Coders will apply AidData’s rigorous Tracking Underreported Financial Flows (TUFF) Methodology to help produce the most comprehensive dataset of Chinese official finance.
Additional Job Description:
Applies knowledge of scientific/technical principles, practices, and regulatory requirements of functional areas.
Performs a variety of procedures supporting clinical, research, field research, service or regulatory and/or diagnostic laboratory programs.
Duties may include performing standardized or specialized scientific or clinical procedures, performing preliminary procedures to prepare, expedite, and facilitate further scientific examination and training, assisting in veterinary surgical procedures, analysis and compilation of data, communicating findings/research results, animal care, repairing and maintaining equipment and ordering supplies.
May have contact with, private business, other state agencies or government entities, faculty, students and researchers, and/or the general public to communicate results and explain laboratory procedures or regulatory requirements.
