Job description

The director of works and maintenance is the chief technical officer of the university and responsible to the vice-chancellor for the day to day running and maintenance of university building. Roads, water boreholes, electrical installations. Equipment and other properties, including provision of service and utilities for the well being of the university.

The applicant for the post mustexhibit considerable degree of competence, responsiveness and demonstrableintegrity for the running of directorates of physical planning of works andmaintenance of a university. Prospective candidates must be proficient in ICTwith demonstrable competence in computer aided design and controls. Candidatesfor any of the positions must be in good health to be able to endure the rigorsof the duties of such directorates and must be such that they would not exceedthe retirement age before the end of five years tenure.

Candidates for the post of directorof physical planning must have degree in engineering, building, architecture,quantity surveying, estate management, urban and regional planning, plus atleast 15 years of relevant experience especially on campus planning anddevelopment.

Candidates must not be below therank of a deputy director of physical planning in a university of similarinstitution.

Possession of a post graduatedegree will be an added advantage.

In addition, candidate must beregistered member of relevant professional bodies such as council of thesociety of engineers (NSE) and the council of the regulation of engineering in Nigeria(COREN), ARCON ( for architects, QSRBN ( for quantity surveyors) NIOB ( forbuilders), etc.
