Database Administrator, Bangalore
Seeking an experienced Database Administrator with expertise in Oracle and/or Cassandra, responsible for production support, performance tuning, and end-to-end database lifecycle management in a dynamic environment.
This is the role and main tasks
Candidate is expected to be familiar with database architecture, logical and physical design, automation, documentation, installs, shell scripting, PL/SQL programming, backup & recovery concepts, and database performance and tuning. Candidate must have good analytical, verbal, and written skills. • Provide full lifecycle support for client databases, including Oracle 19c environments utilizing RAC and non-RAC architectures for OLTP and data warehouse systems, with Active Data Guard for disaster recovery across on-premises and cloud platforms.
• Administer Oracle and/or Cassandra databases across production and non-production environments
• Implement and manage high availability solutions (e.g., clustering, replication)
• Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and system monitoring
• Manage backup and recovery strategies using tools like RMAN and Cassandra backup utilities
• Support database deployments, schema changes, and release activities
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks and incidents
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance standards are met
• Responsible for database backups, design, development, testing, and performance tuning.
• Will work with developers to design and build new structures to support application enhancements and promote database changes throughout the Dev, UAT and Prod databases
• Responsible for quarterly patch applications (PSU) and periodic database upgrades with minimal downtime in database environment
• Required to participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and be available to perform periodic after-hours support
• Proactively think toward automation of repeated tasks
• Takes ownership of highly complex/Priority customer issues reported and see problems through to resolution
• Identifies the knowledge gaps within the team members and addresses them within his/her areas of expertise

Technologies include • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex database performance issues using AWR/ASH/ADDM/ADDR/TKPROF/SQLT/10046 tracing/OSWatcher/CHM etc
• Strong knowledge of database upgrade/migrations
• Strong knowledge in using Backup and recovery tool (RMAN/EXPDP/IMPDP)
• Strong knowledge of Oracle DataGuard Physical Standby configuration, build and support including DataGuard Broker and replication.
• Knowledge on database programming and query troubleshooting.
• Knowledge on Oracle Enterprise Manager.
• Experience in managing Database in AWS/Azure cloud environment.
• Knowledge of Cassandra architecture, including nodes, clusters, replication, and consistency levels
• Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting Cassandra clusters
• Proficiency in backup and recovery strategies for Cassandra
• Understanding of high availability and fault tolerance mechanisms in distributed systems Who we are looking for • We are looking for a skilled Oracle and Cassandra Database Administrator who is proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing production systems and database implementations.
• 5+ years of related experience with implementation and administration of database systems.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
• Able to administer, manage and tune high-transaction Standalone/RAC production server environment(s) on premises and cloud environments
• Able to understand and meet needs of end users
• Able to work with multiple projects in a dynamic, fast paced and often changing environment
