JOB DESCRIPTION
We're looking for an experienced Field Robotics Engineer to contribute to the development, deployment, and maintenance of AeroVect's autonomous driving stack. The ideal candidate possesses a strong theoretical background in Robotics and Autonomous Vehicles and excels across various areas of the autonomy stack, making them a versatile generalist engineer. In this role, you will leverage your strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience to ensure the robustness and efficiency of our autonomous vehicles for airport logistics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, deploy, and maintain software for autonomous vehicles using C++ and ROS2.
- Good understanding of the entire stack to debug and troubleshoot issues with the autonomous system in real-time at the customer site, providing quick and effective solutions.
- Work closely with the hardware and software engineering teams to integrate new features and improvements into the autonomous system.
- Conduct and orchestrate field tests with the testing engineers to validate the performance and safety of the autonomous vehicles.
- Analyze data from field tests and deployments to identify and address issues, optimizing the performance of the system.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of the autonomous vehicles.
- Must be able to pass federal background checks and receive and maintain issuance of an airport security badge
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- At least 1-2 years of experience working with autonomous vehicles or robotics systems.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and ROS2 framework (including tools like Rviz, Rqt, plotjuggler, etc)
- Advanced understanding of Git and Linux.
- Strong reasoning skills and mathematics background including linear algebra, geometry, calculus, and probability to name a few.
- Excellent debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues quickly.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Robotics or a related field.
- Experience with sensor integration and diagnostics managers for autonomous systems.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Advanced proficiency in Python or Shell Scripting for automation purposes.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in dynamic field environments.
