Job description

Location: Latin America (100% Remote)

Employment Type: Full-time Independent Contractor (exclusive commitment)

Compensation: $1,200–$3,000 USD per month (commensurate with experience and skills)

ABOUT THE JOB

Imagine owning a clean, predictable close—every month. Your checklists are sharp, your reconciliations airtight, and your reports tell a story leaders can act on. That’s this role. You’ll support fast-growing US companies and CPA firms as a Latin America-based US Accountant, driving both accuracy and clarity. Full-time IC with exclusivity (no other engagements after hire). If you like turning chaos into order and insights into action—welcome.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You see accounting as a system: inputs tidy, flows efficient, outputs decision-ready. You’ll own the close, stitch together AP/AR, payroll, and reconciliations, then ship reporting that blends variance insight with plain-English commentary. Along the way you’ll standardize checklists, codify playbooks, and turn “oops” into automation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Budgeting & forecasting: Build budgets, rolling forecasts, and cash-flow projections; monitor burn and runway for SMB clients.
  • Own financial reporting: Prepare timely balance sheets, P&Ls, and cash-flow statements, plus management reports with variance analysis and insights.
  • Client collaboration: Join standing calls, translate financials into plain English, and proactively flag risks and opportunities.
  • Manage the books end-to-end: AP/AR, month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and the general ledger.
  • Bank & account reconciliations: Reconcile bank, credit card, merchant, and loan accounts; investigate and clear discrepancies.
  • Process improvement: Standardize checklists, close calendars, and SOPs; suggest tech automations (rules, workflows, integrations).
  • Run payroll accurately: Calculate wages, deductions, and withholdings; coordinate approvals; ensure on-time processing.
  • Data quality & controls: Maintain organized, audit-ready files and strong documentation across periods and entities.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

3+ years of US accounting/bookkeeping experience (public practice or industry).

  • QuickBooks Online proficiency (required) with clean, documented workflows.
  • Experienced CPA or non-CPA—both welcome to apply.
  • Comfortable collaborating with US-based teammates and clients across time zones.
  • Preferred Experience: Xero, Bill.com http://Bill.com (or similar AP/AR automation), G-Suite/Excel (pivot tables, lookups), and basic reporting/BI.
  • Strong command of English (written & spoken), client-facing communication, and service-oriented mindset.
  • Ownership mentality: organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple clients without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Time-zone alignment: Comfortable working US business hours

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • You’ve closed books for US entities and can hit the ground running with minimal supervision.
  • You balance precision with practicality—you know when to dive deep and when to move fast.
  • You enjoy creating order (SOPs, templates, checklists) and love clean ledgers and tidy reconciliations.
  • You’re tech-curious and look for ways to automate routine work and reduce errors.
  • You build trust with clients through consistent delivery, transparency, and simple explanations.

COMPENSATION & PERKS

  • Monthly compensation in USD: $1,200–$3,000 depending on experience and portfolio complexity.
  • Permanent WFH with company-provided equipment (laptop, monitor, accessories).
  • 15 days PTO annually + public holidays
  • Exposure to diverse US industries and modern remote practices.
  • Supportive, documentation-first culture with clear review standards.

CONTRACT STATUS & EXCLUSIVITY

This is an independent contractor engagement based in Latin America. Full-time exclusivity is required. Candidates must not hold other part-time or freelance engagements once hired. Conflict-of-interest checks may apply.

HOW WE WORK

  • Tooling: QuickBooks Online, Xero, Bill.com http://Bill.com, Slack/Zoom, and shared workspaces.
  • Quality: Close checklists, review notes, and documentation are part of every engagement.
  • Security: Follow best practices for data privacy, MFA, and least-privilege access.
