Job description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Hydrogeologist to join our team in Sodankylä, Finland. In this role, you will lead and manage groundwater-related projects, conduct hydrogeological assessments, and provide expert advice on water resource management in Arctic and sub-Arctic environments.
- Plan, execute, and oversee hydrogeological investigations and field studies
- Develop and implement groundwater models using industry-standard software
- Analyze and interpret complex hydrogeological data to assess groundwater resources and potential environmental impacts
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and permit applications
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, engineers, and environmental scientists
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful project completion
- Stay updated on relevant environmental regulations and best practices in hydrogeology
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
- Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to communicate project findings and recommendations
- Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in hydrogeology or a related field
- Proficiency in groundwater modeling software (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW) and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Strong skills in data analysis, interpretation, and visualization
- Experience in groundwater resource assessment and management
- Knowledge of Finnish geology and hydrogeology, with a focus on Arctic and sub-Arctic conditions
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes in Finland
- Excellent project management skills, including budget and timeline management
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Finnish or Swedish is a plus
- Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork in remote locations
