Job description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Hydrogeologist to join our team in Sodankylä, Finland. In this role, you will lead and manage groundwater-related projects, conduct hydrogeological assessments, and provide expert advice on water resource management in Arctic and sub-Arctic environments.

  • Plan, execute, and oversee hydrogeological investigations and field studies
  • Develop and implement groundwater models using industry-standard software
  • Analyze and interpret complex hydrogeological data to assess groundwater resources and potential environmental impacts
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and permit applications
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, engineers, and environmental scientists
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful project completion
  • Stay updated on relevant environmental regulations and best practices in hydrogeology
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
  • Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to communicate project findings and recommendations
  • Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hydrogeology or a related field
  • Proficiency in groundwater modeling software (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW) and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
  • Strong skills in data analysis, interpretation, and visualization
  • Experience in groundwater resource assessment and management
  • Knowledge of Finnish geology and hydrogeology, with a focus on Arctic and sub-Arctic conditions
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes in Finland
  • Excellent project management skills, including budget and timeline management
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Finnish or Swedish is a plus
  • Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork in remote locations
