Roles and Responsibilities:

Our Client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Farmington, CT.

The Manufacturing Engineer determines the most efficient and economical methods to produce all parts required for the manufacture of Norgren products. This includes providing the required machinery, tooling, and test equipment and preparing process documents for each part. This position determines the preferred method of manufacture and frequently deals with other departments within the company to obtain all information required to write process documents, and must also deal with outside vendors regarding the purchase of machinery and tooling.

The Manufacturing Engineer consults with Design Engineering to assist with the evaluation of new products and makes recommendations regarding cost and materials used. The incumbent determines the most efficient procedure to follow in the manufacturing of individual parts. This includes tooling and fixture design, test fixture design, preparation of process documentation and calculation of product cost. The incumbent reviews existing tooling and processes and recommends improvements and modifications.
The incumbent is involved in designing new machines in-house, and requires traveling to observe similar machinery in other plants. This also involves contact with the company's Supply Chain Department as well as direct contact with outside vendors.

 KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Identify opportunities for process improvements as related to material flow and presentation to assembly cells. 2. Ensure the most economical production of parts through the recommendation of materials and manufacturing processes to be used to produce high quality parts and products. 3. Build relationships with all levels of manufacturing personnel as well as various levels of management; involves a large variety of job assignments. 4. Prepare and meet cost estimates by specifying the most economical materials and procedures to be used while meeting the established quality standards. 5. Design or coordinate the design of efficient machinery, test equipment and facilities, including all necessary documents to reduce manufacturing costs. 6. Act as Project Manager for equipment installation projects. Prepare all necessary documentation for capital equipment requirements and equipment projects. 7. Analyze product designs for best method of manufacture 8. Provides technical support for specific plant operations 9. Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise 10. All other duties as assigned by management.
 
 
  • EXPERTISE REQUIRED:

Qualifications: 1. Four-year engineering degree or equivalent experience. 2. Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to manufacturing is preferred.

 

1. Must have strong troubleshooting skills and be familiar with changing technology used in manufacturing. 2. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair equipment. 3. Must have excellent communication skills and be a dynamic, high-impact individual. 4. Effective use of APQP tools such as process flow diagrams, PFMEAs and Control Plans. 5. Designing valves or any other fluidic components((hydro/pneum valves/pumps/seals/actuators) is a must.
