REPORTS TO: Application Development Manager

SUMMARY:

Help define requirements, then design, code, test, implement and support critical business Applications. TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Demonstrated working knowledge of the following technologies:   PowerBuilder (version 10 or higher preferred)   Oracle (version 8 or higher preferred)   Microsoft SQL Server (version 2005 or higher)   Skilled in stored procedures, views, temporary tables, user-defined functions and relational data models   Proficient in T-SQL (query tuning a plus) Familiarity with the following software tools:   Database - TOAD or other Oracle database tools a plus   Reporting writing tool -- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)   .NET, C#, and Visual Studio 2008 Visual Studio Team Foundation Server (TFS) / Visual Source Safe (VSS)   Visio   MS Office 2003 and above Miscellaneous:   Understanding of, and willingness to work within a defined SDLC   Understand QA principles and be able to Unit Test code before delivery to integrated testing and formal QA   Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully   Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, monitor own work to ensure quality and apply feedback to improve performance   Adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events   Identify, assess and communicate business risk on production support and project initiatives to all levels of the organization ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business/Economics, or the equivalent in related work experience. Four to six years of experience in the insurance industry or a related financial services industry.
