About the Role
As a Senior Consultant within BDO’s Cyber Security Practice, you’ll work hands‑on with Microsoft 365 and Azure security environments, helping clients improve how their environments are set up and secured.
This is a practical, technical role suited to someone who enjoys getting into the detail, building and configuring solutions, and continuing to grow their capability across Microsoft security tools.
You’ll support the delivery of M365 security work across platforms like Purview, Defender and Sentinel, while working alongside the team to apply security frameworks in a way that makes sense in real environments.
The Service Line
This role sits within the Cyber Security team in BDO’s Advisory Service Line. The team supports clients across a mix of cyber services including governance and risk, offensive testing, resilience and security enablement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Senior Consultant, you’ll focus on technical security assessments and engineering, while supporting across the broader team.
This role will see you:
- Supporting delivery of Microsoft 365 security solutions across clients
- Working with tools such as Purview, Defender and Sentinel
- Helping assess client environments and identify practical improvements
- Assisting with the implementation of security tools and configurations
- Working with clients and internal teams to improve security outcomes
- Contributing to proposals and engagement scoping
- Continuing to build your skills across new technologies and trends
Skills/Attributes Required
- Working knowledge of cyber security frameworks (e.g. Essential 8, ISO 27001, NIST)
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 environments and security tools (e.g. Purview, Defender, Sentinel)
- Understanding of cloud and security fundamentals
- Able to explain technical concepts clearly
- Some consulting or client-facing experience
- Proactive, curious and keen to learn
- Good attention to detail and ability to manage priorities
Qualifications and Experience Required
- 3+ years’ experience in a relevant cyber security discipline
- Microsoft 365 administration experience (2–3 years)
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g. SC-900, MS-900, AZ-900, SC-400, SC-200)
- Azure security engineering experience is highly regarded
- A degree in IT, computer science, cyber security or similar is highly desirable
- Experience in a professional services environment is highly desirable
