Job description

The role of the HR Lead GBS is to be a strategic partner to the business in order to achieve business objectives. To be the expert on people management, and the day-day work involving supporting the business and the business leaders by leading workforce planning and talent management, partnering with the managers to resolve people issues and challenges within the business, and collaborate with other parts of HR (COE’s, Shared Services, Learning) to align the work with the business requirements. Other tasks involve rollout of HR programs within the business – Org review, performance management, people planning etc., as well as supporting organizational changes by leading change management processes.

The HR Lead GBS is engaged in conversations about the business and the strategy and challenging the business to be innovative to solve the short-term issues as well as ensuring long-term success.

Accountability Description

To lead and drive the people management agenda in the GBS site, and be able to operate at a strategic level, while contributing to the design and implementation of strategy, and co-own the outcomes with the business. To have a strong understanding of the business and its needs that enables the development of an effective, efficient, and sustainable HR partnership that supports alignment to business strategy and contributes to the strengthening of the organizational culture, values, and long-term growth.

GBS Poland HR Strategy

  • Leads the implementation of the HR strategy in GBS across all functions
  • Acting as an agent of change by promoting and supporting change management across functions in the GBS and sponsoring the One Biogen philosophy
  • Builds strong relationships with key stakeholders in order to initiate strategic steps and planning that will support the company’s business strategies, success and growth.
  • Translate global C&B strategy to comply with local market environment & practice and ensure that policies are in place and updated for local market
  • Represent Biogen as needed to external parties such as government agencies and external providers (e.g. insurances, work environment)

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Partner with the GBS Lead to design and deliver a people plan aligned with the business strategy.
  • Analyses management information (i.e. staff turnover, performance reviews, people assessments, recruitment results…) in order to improve organizational performance.
  • Ensures proper and timely headcount planning, in line with business and organizational needs.
  • Supports the organizational design and is responsible for the optimization of internal processes and the clear definition and assignment of roles and responsibilities.
  • Liaise with the Talent Acquisition team to define and implement the recruiting strategy at local level.
  • Acts as a business partner for the people managers at local level to ensure the best employee staffing and performance
  • Is responsible for the management of all involuntary leaves in the local site and counsels the management in case of other kind of leaves
  • Liaises with the People Operations Team and external consultants / providers in order to address and resolve labor law issues and supervise the payroll management and all administrative staff linked to the local legislation and practice.
  • Responsible for internal communication flow on HR matters; informs and advices (proactively and on request) employees on HR and organizational topics.
  • Acts as a point of contact for all HR related questions ad queries from employees/People Managers on operational aspects (if not addressable to the People Operations team or local Benefit Admin) and actions or directs them as necessary.

Excellence in Business organization

  • Identifies key strategic development needs for the GBS, with a special eye on people managers.
  • Act as a reliable partner for the business in designing and implementing the best programs and solutions in terms of people and organizational development.
  • Monitor the results of different employee surveys and in partnership with the key stakeholders ensures proper action plans to address issues and fill in specific gaps, working closely to the local and international management.
  • Lead the GBS towards a continuous improvement of the working environment and working arrangements.
  • Fosters a company culture based on trust and focused on results and on Biogen Elements, willing to be ranked among the Best Workplaces.
  • Coaches and counsels Managers on their day-to-day activities and above all on strategic processes in order to empower them in their role (organization, succession planning, training, employee development, rewards management, performance management etc.) and benchmark those practices both locally and within Biogen.
  • Integrate global policies/procedures/initiatives locally and foster regional approach and synergies.
  • Responsible of the New Employees Orientation program for the Affiliate (s). Exploits international BIIB resources to build up and maintain a program for new hires to ensure that they are adequately introduced to and informed of all relevant Company information, policies, procedures and guidelines as well as Company culture and processes both at local and international level.

Governance

  • Ensures proper organization and execution of HR operational activities and processes in the GBS ensuring compliance with local regulations, liaising with Corporate counsel and external legal to address country specifics requirements.
  • Cascade the Corporate strategy in agreement with Corporate guidelines and principles; enhancing the cross functional cooperation among all departments and TA and providing the HR vision and mission
  • Monitor the implementation of the Corporate strategy and local plans
  • Sponsor integrity and trust at GBS level
  • Acts as a liaison between team and internal business partners and external consultants
  • Disseminates and takes ownership of corporate messaging
  • Contribute to the company plans and programs and guides implementation within the team
  • Member of GBS site leadership team
  • At least 5 years of HR Experience, whereof at least 2 years in an independent role. Strong benefit is experience from a Shared Service center.
  • Experience in both large and small companies, with some working experience in the pharmaceutical or biopha

This position will be responsible for leading Biogen HR activities in the Global Business Services Center in Poland - ensuring consistency with both Biogen affiliate business strategy, philosophy, values and spirit and the specificities and requirements of the local market.
