Alzheimer’s Disease- Medical Director Office Internship
Internship program

Strategically Assess Clinical Practice Gaps
At the end of the 6 months the intern should be able to:
Understand future clinical practice needs that, if not address, might prevent patients from accessing the first potential DMT for Alzheimer’s Disease Establish Biogen collaboration with KOLs focusing on Guidelines and Detection tools Support the Medical Team with development of Ph3b/4 study protocols by acting as SME Operational skills – Global Medical Director Role
At the end of the 6 months, the intern should be able to:
Review high volume data, assess current gaps and provide strategic guidance how to address the gaps Organize and coordinate meetings with external KOLs Effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders Develop agenda for meetings with KOLs Work with Global Lead to develop a long term tactical plan to address specific gaps
Intern Projects
- Critical Review of Existing Detection Tools in Alzheimer’s Disease
Map existing tools, Context of Use, level of validation and limitations
Identify key external players involved in Dection tools development, including KOLs, Start Up
Organize a mini advisory board to review existing tools and define key gaps that might prevent their implementation in clinical practice
Lead preparation of a review paper in collaboration with external and internal stakeholders
Develop tactical plan to ensure detection readiness by time of first DMT launch, including dissemination and education needs for HCPs
- Quality of Care Project
Review existing Diagnostic and Treatment Guidelines (international and local)
Identify potential barriers that might negatively impact the real world utilization of the potential first DMT and develop a set of recommendations to overcome the existing hurdles
Map key professional societies and KOLs currently involved in Guidelines preparation
Develop a series of meetings to discuss future guidelines needs with key stakeholders (as identified during point c)
Liaise with key internal stakeholders to develop compelling agenda for guidelines-related meetings
- Support Ph3b/4 Study Protocols
In collaboration with MD office, support development of Study Protocols by leveraging on existing expertise with imaging and clinical practice
- Miscellaneous
During the internship, support MDs with Congress preparation and attend congress and KOL meetings to understand MD role
Interact with cross-functional internal stakeholders to understand role of Medical Affairs in the organization
