Job description

The Gene Therapy Accelerator Unit at Biogen is searching for a committed, enthusiastic and dependable scientist to contribute to the generation of gene therapy clinical candidates for neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases. The incumbent will be part of a cross-functional team focused on transgene design and construction, optimization of capsid engineering and packaging to maximize transduction efficiency and tissue targeting, and scale-up of research grade material for in vivo efficacy and screening toxicology studies. He/She should have extensive experience in rodent handling/dosing, tissue collection and downstream analysis and should be able to plan and execute in vivo and in vitro experiments with high level of independency, organization and scientific rigor. He/she should be able to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of pertinent literature and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to efficiently present results to project team members.

Direct responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • In vivo validation of novel gene therapy clinical candidates
  • Support the development of new AAV-related platforms
  • Manage external CROs for outsourced preclinical studies
  • Maintain organized and detailed electronic records
  • 5+ years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry with demonstrated in vivo skills
  • Solid experience with peripheral (IV) and CNS delivery (IT, stereotaxis)
  • Strong background in downstream analysis including IHC/IF, qPCR, WB, ELISA •
