Job description
Hourly + Commission Position.
Hair Stylist position delivers professional, hair styling, coloring, cutting services to guests while ensuring a comfortable and relaxing spa experience. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices and procedures, and Nevada law.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING)
- Provide spa guests with a comfortable and relaxing spa experience while ensuring the utmost safety for our guests.
- Assess guest needs and inquire about contraindications (e.g., medications, allergies, high blood pressure, and pregnancy) before beginning service.
- Maintain the highest level of guest service by providing guests with a broad understanding of current techniques and procedures. Must be qualified and able to perform all treatments offered.
- Ensure uncompromising level of cleanliness of work area and/or treatment room at all times.
- Promote and sell spa/salon services including retail offerings related to the Spa. (Retail sales goals may be required.) Informs facility management of any member, guest, or facility issues.
- Is knowledgeable about the facility, the property and its amenities in order to effectively communicate with guests.
- Reports any incidents or accidents to a member of the management team. Other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)
- Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to effectively deal with internal/external guests, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse, collect accurate information and resolve problems and concerns.
- Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
- Ability to effectively deal with internal/external customers, some of whom will require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger. Collect accurate information and solve management concerns.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions and to provide clear direction and guidance . Ability to relate to all levels of management and employees in verbal/written form.
- Listen and respond to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice. Answer questions and offer assistance giving accurate information regarding outlet hours, other hotel services, directions to local attractions or function rooms, car rentals, airline shuttle service, etc.
- Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for other employees. Resolve complications and complaints by conducting thorough research of the situation and the most effective solutions. Make decisions and take action based on previous experience & judgement , sometimes revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations.
- Sufficient manual dexterity of hand, wrist and arm in order to perform hair services.
- Understands that as a representative of the Spa they will maintain a healthy, fit appearance and a positive attitude.
- Ability to walk/stand and work 100 percent of shift walking a maximum of two miles. Check work area before, during and after shift for proper set-up, safety and cleanliness. Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift, bend, stoop, and reach to perform services.
- Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 years' experience, preferably in a resort spa environment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a minimum of 1000 hours of licensed cosmetology school training.
- Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
