Job description

The Department of Clinical Sciences in the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy at High Point University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position. The person in this position will be responsible for teaching PharmD students and providing service to the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy, University, and the greater High Point community. This will be advanced by clinical practice collaborations maintained by the individual. The estimated effort for this individual at program maturity (i.e., when a full faculty cohort is hired) will be 10% research, 60-70% teaching and 20-30% service. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE-accredited school is required
  • Pharmacist licensure in North Carolina ,or eligibility for licensure is required

Experience and Training:

  • Completion of a pharmacy practice (PGY1) residency or the ability to demonstrate equivalent experience is required
  • Candidates with PGY2 and/or fellowship training is highly preferred
  • Additional professional certifications (e.g., BCPS, BCGP, BCCP, BCCCP) are also highly preferred
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellence in pharmacy education and research is preferred
  • Experience working with students as a faculty mentor or preceptor is preferred
  • Experience with applied skills-based education is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Skill in dealing with individuals in varied roles and settings
  • Ability to write scholarly documents
  • Ability to work with and teach using electronic medical records

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, coordinate, and teach content within the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy integrated curriculum as appointed by the Department Chair.
  • Develop and offer an elective course that corresponds with expertise area(s) as needed.
  • Provide mentorship and advisement for students in the School of Pharmacy as appointed by the Dean’s Office and Department Chair.
  • Collaborate in the clinical environment with established pharmacists to enhance services through education, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide unique targeted clinical assistance when asked.
  • Share teaching responsibilities at clerkship sites upon request.
  • Serve as liaison between the School of Pharmacy and the faculty member’s practice site if applicable or other clinical practice collaborations.
  • Publish scientific findings in peer-reviewed journals, produce case reports and present research findings at national and international meetings as allowed by the allocated research effort.
  • Integrate and enhance collaborations among the clinical sciences and basic sciences in areas of research, education, and service.
  • Advance the service missions of the School of Pharmacy and High Point University to meet community needs. Act as a representative and advocate for the department, both within the University and externally.
  • Participate in committees within the Department, School of Pharmacy, and University and participate in professional and governmental organizations as appointed by the Department Chair.
  • Abide by University and School of Pharmacy policies.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair.
  • Utilize ExamSoft® or other software to conduct all School of Pharmacy assessments.
