Network Engineer

Position details:

Title: VDEM - Network Engineer

Location North Chesterfield, VA 23236

Duration: 12+ months

Job Description:

• Supports VDEM’s PBX and VOIP telecommunications system by troubleshooting issues, coordinating with vendors to correct problems as they occur.
• Installs and configures VOIP phones and voicemail for staff as needed. Coordinates with VITA/Northrop Grumman staff as VDEM begins to transform its network environment to the Common Wealth of Virginia domain. 
• Coordinates the move of VDEM’s on-premises data center to a new location within the same facility. 
• Coordinates facility re-cabling to support agency transformation and server room relocation. 
• Develops documentation of existing network environment. Manages mobile devices (smart phones and tablets) by maintaining inventory, coordinates issuing devices to new staff, troubleshooting issues encountered by users. 
• Coordinates telecommunications requests with VITA such as obtaining internet circuits for regional offices, troubleshooting wireless networks at VDEM facilities, requesting adds/removals of Airwatch MDM service for mobile devices.

Requirements:

• Network Engineer 2: 4-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. 
• Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 
• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
• Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  

Required Skills:

• VOIP installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting experience
• PBX installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting experience
• Mobile device experience
