JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Provide academic assistance for Metropolitan Community College (MCC) MATH courses and related topics in other courses.ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

• Help students understand math-related topics covered in courses at MCC and to recognize, develop, and apply appropriate study strategies and skills.
• Provide assistance to faculty and staff related to mathematics in MCC courses across the college.
• Assist with technology resources in the Math Center.
• Assist with other tasks and documentation related to Math Center operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge and ability to tutor basic mathematics through Calculus (MATH 2410) and Statistics required; through Calculus III (MATH 2412) is preferred and knowledge of Differential Equations is a plus.
• Ability to communicate and exercise tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment in stressful situations, showing area-wide leadership.
• Ability to communicate with individuals with diverse social and academic backgrounds, learning styles, and capabilities.
• Ability to promote and maintain an attitude of initiative and acceptance of responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree, Bachelor degree preferred or equivalent
• One (1) year related work experience.
