AWS Cloud Computing SME

The tasking involves understanding the technical, social, and business aspects of technology adoption with a particular emphasis on products used to broker and launch cloud services.

This is a technical and hands-on position in which you will be configuring and operating cloud brokerage software.

 Qualifications:

This position requires demonstrated skills in the following techologies and techniques:

• Designing, launching, and operating cloud services in one or more cloud services providers
• Designing and deploying applications using service-oriented architecture design patterns including enterprise service bus and related technologies
• Writing and implementing technical use cases
• Developing and leading software development efforts using agile software development techniques with a preference for Scrum
• Migrating applications from data centers to clouds
• Migrating applications from use of stand-alone servers to managed services
• Understanding of Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA) as amended, and the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) process for accrediting and authorizing federal systems to operate as cloud systems
• Understanding of federal contracting rules to include Federal Acquisition Regulations including departmental supplements and additional guidance
• Familiarity with one of more software packages or service offerings used to dynamically launch and configure cloud service provider services

 

Desired skills:

• Operating experience to include configuring and starting services in at least one cloud service provider, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Terremark
• Software engineering experience to include object-oriented design and development in at least one object-oriented language with Java Enterprise Edition and Ruby-on-Rails preferred
• Experience with designing and deploying distributed authentication mechanisms using Service Assertion Markup Language version 2.0
• Demonstrated development skills using scripting languages to include Linux shell scripting and other scripting languages including php and python
• Demonstrated skills in the use of AWS service configuration and choreography to include CloudFormation and DevOps

• Customer facing skills to represent AWS well within the customer’s environment and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
• Highly technical and analytical, possessing 5 or more years of IT platform implementation experience
• Working knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies required
• Track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing, enterprise environments
• Integration of AWS cloud services with on-premise technologies from Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, SAP etc.
