Job description

Coordination with legal technology, department professionals and other stakeholders is required to influence the design and administration of a data warehouse, an outside counsel extranet and dashboards for legal staff. Comfort with advanced Excel functionality including pivot table creation and maintenance, Powerpoint presentations and storyboarding, Microsoft Word and other internet based applications.

Sr. Analyst responsible for collecting, evaluating, and reporting, Outside Counsel & Legal Vendor Performance metrics for every employee in the Legal Division and their divisional clients globally. Analyst’s work product will facilitate cost containment activities and outside counsel and legal vendor convergence impacting over $200 million of legal division spend among 250 legal division professionals utilizing over 400 outside counsel entities along with over 50 outside legal vendors in more than 20 support categories. This role assists the Sr. Manager, Outside Counsel and Legal Vendor Relationships with establishing and driving outside counsel and legal vendor initiatives for the General Counsel, 10 division vice presidents and legal staff. Important initiatives include administering the companied firm alliance, a preferred outside counsel network as well as creating processes to collect metrics and produce reports reflecting opportunities for further legal savings. Creating an outside counsel preferred directory will create synergies among the most successful firms and create incentives for firms to improve quality of legal support, efficiency and ultimately contain costs further. Metrics collection, data analysis, and policy implementation essential to support ALFA and review other outside counsel include vendor guidelines policies, updates and enforcement, billing rate increase requests, alternative fee arrangements, budget forecasts, preferred outside counsel and legal vendor directories, invoicing variances, fees to expense ratios, staffing ratios, favorable outcomes and performance scores, diversity and vendor recognition programs. Further opportunities include worldwide education, training, and project team participation to support systems initiatives including electronic billing, matter management and document management.
