Research & Development Technician-28721

This position is NonExempt. Hours over 40 will be paid at Time and a Half. 1. Performs a variety of duties in the electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical, or optical areas.;

• Builds or assembles prototype materials, components, subassemblies and assemblies.;
• Constructs, operates, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, maintains and tests equipment, systems or products.;
• Works from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions.;
• Performs tests, analyzes data and writes reports;
• Reviews or develops processing or manufacturing instructions.;
• Maintains detailed documentation through all phases of development, testing and analysis.;
• May assist in the transfer of technology and/or contribute in cross-functional discussions regarding device performance allegations. Two-year degree with 2+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and technical work experience. May also require a license or certification in the area of expertise. Applies knowledge of technical concepts and practices, and a complete understanding of product or systems fundamentals in a functional area, and working knowledge of other related disciplines. Utilizes/interprets advanced numerical and statistical data and computer software programs to present documentation and analysis and resolve complex problems. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations. (Cognitive Skills) Performs complex technical assignments usually without established procedures. Assists in the design, development, evaluation or modification of all area-specific equipment, materials, systems, and/or product. May determine types of tests or develop preventative maintenance plans assignments require considerable judgment, initiative, creativity and leadership in troubleshooting, suggesting alternatives, and making recommendations for continuous quality improvement methods.
