Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Provide basic nursing care in accordance with established standards, work collaboratively with team members, and report any incidents or issues to relevant authorities to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.

  • Notify the nursing leaders of any situation that impacts on the quality of care.

  • Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse

  • Perform Daily routine: Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families; Prepares and tidies patients’ beds and linens as needed and organizes patients’ belongings as well as furniture Disinfects the beds, furniture, and equipment after utilizing them; Maintain the ward, store, fridge and its facilities clean and tidy; Assist the patient with filling the hot water flask if needed; Answer phone calls and relay messages; Attendants to patients call the bell promptly; Assist nurses in transporting patients to and from the operating theatre; Escorts patients to other services for diagnostic tests and from the ward to other areas upon discharge; Dispatches specimens to the laboratory and collects results; Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations; Send out portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.

  • Assists the trained staff in various aspects: Carried out of nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc.; Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly; Records the daily charges for the items used in the ward and updates the patients’ charges accordingly; Serve meals, prepare drinks for patients if needed, and collect trays; Maintains the record of intake and output chart for each patient; Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely and comfortably using the correct body mechanics; Accompany the consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses.

  • Attend meetings held by the service.

EDUCATION:

  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia

  • Certified healthcare assistants would be a priority.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES:

  • Experience working in a hospital setting is an advantage

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Certified Basic Life Support

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Able to converse fluently and write in English language and Bahasa Malaysia
