POSITION SUMMARY: Develop and instruct group exercise classes for members of the Weinstein Center for Recreation.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Ensure that group exercise classes are delivered to participants in a safe and enjoyable manner.

· Explain procedures, risks, and benefits to participants, and inform participants that they have the right to refuse, stop, or alter procedures at any time.

· Assist with the creation of new class offerings. Stay current with exercise trends and safety standards.

· Assist in the training, supervision, and evaluation of other instructors as needed.

· Attend all required training workshops and scheduled meetings.

· Accurately complete required daily attendance forms for all assigned classes

· Adhere to all University Recreation employee standards.

· Adhere to all emergency procedures in compliance with the risk management plan.

Position may be required to work nights and weekends as part of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, skills & ability:

· Current nationally accredited certification in Group Fitness (AFAA, NSCA, ACE, ACSM, NASM preferred)

· Must demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and exercise physiology at a level required by the certification program.

· CPR/AED certification required.

Education & experience:

· Bachelor's degree in Health, Physical Education or Recreation related field preferred, but may be substituted with appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities.

Salary: Salary range is based on experience level. Starting rate $25 for entry-level

Scheduled Hours: Varies. 20 hours per week
