Electrical AutoCAD Design Engineer – Data Center

Location:- Chennai (Preferred) | Mumbai | Bangalore | Hyderabad | Gurgaon | Noida

The Electrical AutoCAD Design Engineer will be responsible for detailed electrical layout planning, SLD
interpretation/development, cable routing design, and preparation of BOQs and specifications for
large-scale Data Centers (multi-megawatt facilities).
This role requires strong expertise in AutoCAD, electrical systems, and spatial coordination, ensuring
all designs are technically accurate, fully coordinated, and constructible.
You will bridge the gap between electrical engineering intent (SLDs) and real-world execution (layouts,
routing, installation feasibility)

Electrical Design & Layouts

• Develop detailed electrical layouts from Substation to Data Halls
• Design layouts for HT, MV, LV systems, including:
  • HT switchgear, transformers, RMUs
  • MV & LV panels, MDBs
  • UPS systems, battery rooms, PDUs, RPPs
• Space planning with maintenance clearances and access paths

Cable Routing & Pathway Design

• Design routing for HT / MV / LV power cables and control cables
• Plan cable trays, trenches, shafts, risers, underground routing
• Ensure A/B path redundancy, segregation, and constructability

Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)

• Interpret / develop electrical SLDs for data center power systems
• Align SLD intent with physical layouts and routing

BOQ & Technical Documentation

• Prepare BOQs and equipment schedules
• Develop technical specifications for:
  • Electrical equipment
  • HT/MV/LV cables
  • Bus ducts / busways
• Support tendering and procurement

Earthing & Lightning Protection

• Design campus‑level and building‑level earthing systems
• Plan earth grids, earth pits, clean/technical earth
• Ensure compliance with IS / IEEE standards

Coordination & Quality

• Coordinate with HVAC, Architecture, Structural, BIM teams
• Resolve clashes and space conflicts
• Deliver high‑quality AutoCAD drawings (construction‑ready)

Site & Execution Support

• Ensure installation feasibility and maintenance access
• Support site teams and shop drawing reviews
   

• Diploma or BE in Electrical Engineering
• 5 to 15 years (Data Center / Mission-Critical preferred – from Layouts + SLD + BOQ)

Preferred / Good to Have

• Prior Data Center / Mission‑Critical project experience
• Basic exposure to Revit / BIM coordination
• Familiarity with Uptime Institute, TIA‑942 standards

Mandatory Skills

• AutoCAD 2D – Expert level
• Strong knowledge of:
  • HT / MV / LV electrical systems
  • Substations & data center power distribution
• Proven ability to convert SLDs into practical layouts
• Experience with BOQs and technical specifications
• Knowledge of earthing & lightning protection systems
