Mechanical Engineer

Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Mechanical Engineer based in New York, NY. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, evaluating, and overseeing mechanical systems for building projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Responsibilities include preparing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system designs, developing detailed drawings and specifications, conducting feasibility studies, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting construction administration. The role also involves performing system calculations, energy analysis, and ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency standards are met. Effective communication with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders is essential to successfully deliver project objectives.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in mechanical system design, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
• Experience with applicable codes and standards such as ASHRAE, NYC Mechanical Code, and energy codes
• Knowledge of engineering principles, construction practices, and regulatory compliance requirements
• Ability to perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system sizing
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and construction teams
• Strong communication skills with clients and project stakeholders
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 5–7+ years of related work experience (adjustable based on seniority level)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one is a plus
• Experience with new construction and high-rise buildings in NYC is preferred
