Overview TRC is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Energy Advisor to support multifamily residential energy efficiency programs, with a focus on customer engagement and technical assistance. These programs provide technical assistance and cash incentives to property owners and developers of affordable multifamily rental properties, enabling energy efficiency upgrades. This customer-facing role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with program participants. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with experience in the energy sector and a passion for advancing energy efficiency initiatives. Previous experience with state or local government or utility programs, building performance principles, energy efficiency technologies, state energy codes, or construction management is highly desirable. This position is based out of TRC’s Portland office. While candidates must reside in Oregon, they are not required to be local to Portland. TRC is particularly interested in candidates located in coastal Oregon, Southern Oregon, and Eastern Oregon, where participating projects are actively underway. Responsibilities Perform day-to-day energy advising duties for multifamily energy efficiency programs. Actively manage multiple projects through various stages of the program lifecycle in collaboration with program staff. Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers, as well as stakeholders such as property owners, energy consultants, contractors, housing advocacy groups, and complementary programs. Provide professional customer support, including guidance on program requirements, technical assistance, problem-solving, and timely project status updates. Collect, analyze, and maintain project data with a high level of accuracy to ensure program success. Offer project design and technical assistance to multifamily property owners and developers, including energy efficiency recommendations tailored to their needs. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to ensure compliance with program and contract requirements. Utilize MS Dynamics CRM database daily for tracking and managing program data. Stay informed of program changes, incentive reservation statuses, and other relevant information to effectively communicate with customers. Draft and deliver professional reports to program management and customers, ensuring clarity and accuracy. Uphold high standards of work quality, communication, and deliverables. Coordinate regularly with program team members to ensure seamless program delivery. Provide support in other program delivery areas as needed, such as outreach and data analysis. Qualifications Education and Experience: Associate's degree with at least two years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree. Interpersonal Skills: Self-driven and team-oriented, with strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent customer service skills, including highly effective communication in-person, via email, and over the phone. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with both team members and customers. Organizational Skills: Proven ability to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously with exceptional attention to detail. Strong time management skills, including the ability to monitor and manage project progress effectively. Professional scheduling and meeting facilitation skills. Technical Competency: Knowledge of energy efficiency technologies and building science principles. Familiarity with project design and construction processes. Strong computer proficiency to perform day-to-day tasks and attend meetings successfully. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to conduct independent computer-based research. Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license in the State of Oregon. Ability to travel within Oregon, with minimal travel required. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications are not mandatory but are highly desirable for candidates applying for this position. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish. Experience with building energy simulation tools (e.g., eQUEST, REM/Rate, OpenStudio, IES-VE). Familiarity with construction cost estimating, purchasing, and project closeout processes. Background in utility or energy efficiency programs. Experience working with affordable housing, low-income, or disadvantaged communities.
