Job description

Augsburg University’s CCNE-accredited Doctor of Nursing Practice – Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP-FNP) program is inviting applications for a Clinical Director faculty position (non-tenure track) to begin in Summer 2026.

This faculty appointment is an 11-month, 1.0  FTE position within the School of Health and Department of Nursing, with a salary range of $83,000–$92,000, depending on qualifications and experience. The role includes administrative leadership as Clinical Director, teaching responsibilities across the Family Nurse Practitioner curriculum, academic advising, student mentorship, and service to the department and university. This position allows for up to two days per week of clinical practice, provided all faculty and Clinical Director responsibilities are fully maintained.

The Clinical Director leads the coordination, development, and oversight of clinical training experiences within the DNP-FNP program, ensuring high-quality supervised clinical practice experiences that meet accreditation standards and support student success across all required rotations.

Working closely with the FNP Program Director, the Clinical Director serves as a strategic partner in program leadership, supporting student progression, clinical placement planning, site development, preceptor engagement, remediation, curriculum alignment, accreditation compliance, and continuous quality improvement.

This role also collaborates with centralized support staff across the School of Health and Department of Nursing to manage clinical placements, affiliation agreements, onboarding, credentialing, compliance tracking, scheduling, accreditation reporting, and student support through shared systems and electronic platforms.

The DNP-FNP program prepares nurses for advanced nursing leadership and the clinical role of providing integrative primary care to individuals and families across cultures and care settings. The program emphasizes eliminating barriers to health through peaceful, just, and collaborative actions that uphold and improve human potential. Graduates are eligible to apply for certification as Family Nurse Practitioners (FNPs) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach across the DNP-FNP course curriculum
  • Partner with the FNP Program Director to lead clinical education, student evaluation, progression and remediation, accreditation compliance, and program quality
  • Collaborate with School of Health and Nursing support staff to oversee supervised clinical practice experiences, including student placements, schedules, onboarding, affiliation agreements, compliance, and operational workflows
  • Develop and maintain clinical partnerships with healthcare systems, community clinics, and preceptors
  • Monitor clinical sites, preceptor qualifications, and student learning experiences to ensure quality and compliance
  • Collaborate with faculty to align curriculum, competencies, and experiential learning outcomes
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external clinical partners and support broader School of Health interprofessional and placement initiatives
  • Participate fully as a faculty member through advising, faculty meetings, curriculum review, accreditation reporting, assessment, program evaluation, continuous quality improvement, and shared governance
  • Teach in classes that are offered primarily during weekdays, with occasional evening responsibilities. Courses are delivered in a hybrid format, including online synchronous and asynchronous sessions, along with in-person on-campus meetings (typically 4–6 times per semester).

All FNP faculty are afforded time for professional practice. This aligns with Augsburg’s commitment to integrating clinical practice and scholarship with teaching.
