Job description

In Belfast, we have around 120 colleagues, including 70 in Fund Services across Accounting, Administration, Investor Services, Company Secretarial and Depositary. Our office, established in the Titanic Quarter in 2011, has grown into a key strategic hub for the group. Around 50 staff support our Global Enablement Functions, including Marketing, Internal Finance, IT, Compliance and HR.

The Fund Accounting team works closely with clients’ finance departments, acting as an extension of their team. We handle ongoing bookkeeping and bank reconciliations, prepare quarterly journals and trial balances, and produce management accounts once investment valuations are received. Semi‑annually or annually, we prepare full statutory accounts, manage audit processes and, for some clients, present at board meetings.

The team includes around 30 accountants in Belfast and offers a full career pathway—from Higher-Level Apprenticeships and graduate trainee roles through to part‑qualified, qualified, senior and manager positions.

We operate a hybrid working model, typically two days in the office and three from home.

Main Responsibilities

The Fund Accounting Manager is part of the team responsible for planning and preparing financial reports for a portfolio of funds, ensuring all reporting deadlines and contractual requirements are met. As a senior member of the team, the role also contributes to strategic development and the training and progression of accounting staff.

Core Accounting

  • Review day‑to‑day bookkeeping, including expenses, VAT, accruals, prepayments, loan interest and investment/investor activity.
  • Review quarterly management accounts (Income Statement, Balance Sheet/NAV, Changes in Equity, Cash Flows).
  • Review interim and annual financial statements and manage auditor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory and accounting standards.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build understanding of client structures, transactions and reporting needs.
  • Oversee processes to ensure timely delivery of financial reports.
  • Lead client meetings on accounting matters and agree reporting timetables with clients, auditors and advisers.

Other Responsibilities

  • Motivate and support staff, maintain quality standards and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to Ocorian policies and contribute to their development.
  • Support training, development and performance reviews within the team.
  • Facilitate clear communication, including regular team meetings.
  • Assist with fee proposals and attend meetings with prospective clients.
  • Review and release client payments prepared by Administration.
