We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer to act as a hybrid quality champion within our engineering department. In this position, you will bridge the gap between manual and automated testing, leading the transition toward a highly automated, AI-assisted QA environment.
You will join the Data Import team, a cross-functional product team that owns one of the most foundational capabilities of the Lucanet platform. It's where the platform starts: the team brings large volumes of customer data into Lucanet, organizes it into reporting entities, and that's what unlocks the entire platform for our customers.
This capability underpins month-end closing and financial reporting for our customers. The team works closely with other product areas within Consolidation Financial Planning and the Data Platform team to ensure reliability, scalability, and data correctness.
From a quality perspective, this area comes with real complexity: high data volumes, complex business rules, and strong expectations around accuracy. The team is actively evolving how quality is owned, moving from traditional QA towards quality engineering and developer-led testing, with QA acting as a strategic partner across the full software development life cycle.
The core mission for this project is to implement a robust 'developer-led testing' methodology. We are actively shifting quality responsibilities to the development team, empowering our developers to write their own tests. Your role will be to act as a quality consultant, guiding, pair-programming, and verifying the work of the developers rather than solely writing tests in isolation. You will also work closely with a wider QA community of seven automation engineers to ensure our testing strategy is scalable.
What you'll do
- Empower engineers to own quality: Coach engineers to take ownership of quality end-to-end through pair programming, pair testing, and knowledge transfer sessions, building confidence and testing capabilities across the team
- Testing Across Backend and Frontend: Work across backend services and frontend applications with experience in unit, integration, and API E2E testing in Java (JUnit, Mockito) on the backend, and unit, component, and E2E testing in Angular (Jest, Angular Testing Library, Playwright) on the frontend, with a risk-based focus.
- Enhance Test Automation Frameworks: Build and evolve automation across the full test pyramid, balancing fast unit and integration tests with targeted E2E suites for the most complex and critical scenarios.
- Implement Agentic Test Generation: Develop and maintain agents that generate, extend, and self-heal tests. Design AI rules, skills, and instructions that translate requirements and implementations into test cases, catching issues in our agentic SDLC.
- Monitor Post-Release Health: Establish and use monitoring tools (like Sentry or Grafana) to track production health and detect issues early, so that we can resolve them with engineering teams.
- Drive Quality Engineering: Continuously evaluate and challenge our testing approach across architecture, processes, and tooling. Identify what's holding quality back, experiment with new approaches, shape a cross-team strategy, and lead the rollout that reduces quality risk and scales with our products and teams.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with product managers, designers, developers, engineering managers, team leads, and the wider QA team to align on quality objectives.
What you bring to the table
- 5+ years of experience in QA automation and quality engineering.
- Extensive experience in QA automation, specifically with TypeScript and Playwright (including Playwright MCP or CLI).
- Solid understanding of how to test in a Java and Angular stack, including unit and integration testing with JUnit and Mockito on the backend, API E2E testing where user flows chain multiple services, and unit and component testing with Jest and Angular Testing Library on the frontend.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins) and with implementing pipeline strategies to run tests efficiently.
- Demonstrated experience using AI coding tools (such as Cursor or Claude) for agentic test generation.
- Experience in designing AI rules and skills that turn requirements into tests, including self-healing tests or AI-driven test maintenance.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (such as Sentry or Grafana) and experience using production data to drive quality decisions.
- Strong understanding of testing strategies, architecture, and modern quality engineering methodologies, including shift-left and developer-owned testing approaches.
- Experience testing complex, data-heavy enterprise software, ideally in financial, accounting, or consolidation platforms.
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with experience pairing with engineers, leading knowledge transfer, and building testing capability across teams.
- Strong communication skills, experienced in working with engineering managers, product managers, designers, developers, and QA leads to align on quality goals.
- A proactive and analytical mindset, with the ability to challenge existing processes and how AI is changing them, propose new ideas, and drive them through to adoption.
- Previous experience driving QA transformations, for example shifting test ownership toward the development team, introducing AI into test workflows and frameworks, or evolving teams from manual to automated testing, is a strong plus.
