Job description

Fairmont El San Juan Hotel Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing all facets of the execution of Banquet and Event Operations at the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel.  The Banquet Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, supervising, training, disciplining and executing the event operations. This role works closely with the Director of Banquets, Assistant Banquet Manager/ Kitchen Management, and Sales/ Catering teams to execute events that are profitable, with a focus on high quality product and service delivery.  He/she is expected to execute events according to client satisfaction.  

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

 

EDUCATION & SKILLS

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or Event Planning, preferred
  • Long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years of related work experience in banquets, fine dining, or hotel restaurant operations.
  • Strong knowledge of service standards, and different service types (French, Russian, etc.).
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques, health department rules and              regulations, liquor laws and regulations.
  • Food and Beverage experience in related field preferred

Hospitality experience preferre
