Position Summary:
The Senior Data Review Specialist position is responsible for analysis of environmental sample data according to approved scientific methodology in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures. This position includes the use of a LIMS system, communication with the analysts and project managers, as well as other duties as necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must satisfy the requirements for essential duties and responsibilities of the Data Review Specialist job description.
- Responsible for audit of laboratory data from routine and non-routine instrumental analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Verify data in the LIMS to ensure proper reporting of all QC and sample data
- Identify/determine root causes for reoccurring out of spec QC or reporting errors to prevent future issues
- Train personnel in the department on routine and non-routine tasks
- Assist in setting up new reporting requirements for routine methods, or for special client requirements for project work
- Track and determine ways to implement special client requirements for projects and individual samples
- Assist in developing process improvements in conjunction with management
- Write/revise SOPs and methods that conform to company and regulatory requirements
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance directly related to the management or general business operations through the data review process
- Perform review of scientific data including, but not limited to standard preparation, calibrations, methodology, QC, sample data, integration review, compound evaluation, chemical identification, chromatography and other subjective review based on testing performed; perform complex calculations to verify results.
- Determine if the data is compliant and defendable based on industry regulations and methodology
- Serve as technical advisor for analysts regarding QA/QC of data
- Communicate with internal clients to discuss any findings and notify them of any necessary rework or compliance/regulatory concerns
- Assist Group Leader and Manager with QA administrative functions such as MDL record keeping, IDOC/DOC forms or MDLV/LOQ entry and tracking.
- Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
- Demonstrates and promotes the company vision.
- Responsible for keeping personal training documentation (training records, IDOC/DOC) current and accurate.
- Responsible for timely completion of assigned/scheduled QC samples (MDL, LOD/LOQ, PT)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in chemistry or related field; 6 years lab experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Relevant experience in routine and complex laboratory procedures and instruments, preferably in a production environment.
- Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or Sponsorship
- Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
Ideal Candidates will have:
- Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience in routine and complex laboratory procedures and instruments, preferably in a production environment.
- Strong understanding of the department's operations, standards and technical competencies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
- Able to interpret written materials and communicate findings effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and propose practical solutions.
- Applies critical thinking to evaluate options and make decisions.
- Effective collaborator who contributes to team goals and supports department productivity goals
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effectively balances multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
- Comfortable using mathematical formulas and tools to perform calculations and analyze data.
- Consistently delivers high‑quality work within established timelines and specifications.
- Able to work independently, following written or verbal instructions with minimal oversight.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to coordinate tasks and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
