Position Summary Position Summary The Patient Transportation Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the patient transportation department and to ensure the safety, timely, and efficient movement of patients, equipment, and materials across facilities. This role collaborates closely with the Patient Transportation Group Lead and the Manager of Patient Transportation to coordinate services, maintain standards of care, and support departmental goals. Responsibilities Assist leadership with departmental operational budgets to enhance productivity, revenue, quality patient care, and decrease expenses. • Supports quality patient care and safe work practices contributing to department and operational goals. • Understands all intricate aspects of patient transport and equipment distribution. • Maintains a safe and customer service-oriented environment for patients, visitors, and staff. • Participate in the interview process of new hires by providing an overview of position details and answering questions. • Facilitates effective communication and fosters collaborative relationships across departments to ensure seamless service delivery. • Plans, schedules, and assigns daily workflow to transportation team members based on operational needs. • Encourages innovation and continuous improvement in departmental and interdepartmental processes to enhance service quality. • Supports ongoing education and training, including orientation, annual Joint Commission in-services, and BLS certification. • Collaborate with the Patient Transportation Group Lead to ensure timely and accurate reporting on productivity, staffing, and performance metrics. • Leads team huddles and staff meetings in manager’s absence. • Establishes, interprets, and monitors compliance with departmental policies and procedures. • Represents the department on facility and corporate committees and workgroups as needed. • Oversee the transportation coordination for patients and equipment, ensuring timely and efficient service. • Maintains and updates clinical and non-clinical information systems related to transportation operations. • Maintains an up-to-date inventory of transportation equipment and repair records; notifies management of replacements. • Ensures compliance with safety and infection control practices within all areas of responsibility. • Knowledgeable with the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) and emergency response codes. • Respond to Code Red alerts and HICS activations with appropriate equipment and personnel. • Collaborate with clinical teams to determine appropriate transportation methods for patients. • Notify the leadership team of any system failures and report issues within the Transport Tracking System. • Develop and facilitate a training schedule for new employees. • Performs daily patient and internal customer rounds to follow up on customer relations issues and patient experience concerns. • Ensures timely and accurate billing compliance with equipment. • Assists with human resources functions including interviewing, training, coaching, and timekeeper. • Serves a working leader covering positions as necessary to assure success of the team. • Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Qualifications Education/Training • High school graduate or equivalent. • Base knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred. Licensure/Certification • BLS/HealthCare Provider Certification by the American Heart Association. • National Child Passenger Safety Certification (CPS) by Safe Kids USA. If required for area. Obtained within 90days of obtaining position. Experience • Required two (2) years of related work experience or previous experience as a transporter. • Required two (2) years’ supervisory experience.
