JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

   

The Business Systems Analyst I (BSA I) for Student Systems is an entry-level role that supports the ongoing enhancement and day-to-day operations of Florida Polytechnic University’s student information system (Banner). This position contributes to improving the student and faculty experience by assisting with system support, process documentation, and basic configuration activities.

Working under the guidance of senior team members, the BSA I partners with academic departments and student services to learn and support business processes that impact the student lifecycle. This role provides an opportunity to build foundational knowledge of student information systems, higher education operations, and technology solutions that support student success.

This position will primarily support Banner Student and related student systems, with exposure to areas such as Financial Aid, DegreeWorks, and reporting/analytics tools including Insights.

   

JOB DESCRIPTION

   

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Business process support and documentation – Assist in gathering information, documenting workflows, and supporting efforts to improve processes that impact students and faculty.
    • Assist in collecting and documenting business requirements and current-state processes in collaboration with academic and administrative departments.
    • Support the identification of process improvement opportunities by documenting pain points and helping evaluate solutions that enhance the student and faculty experience.
  • System and platform support – Contribute to the support and maintenance of Banner and related systems by assisting with issue resolution, basic configuration updates, and system operations. Participate in testing cycles, including test case documentation and validation of system changes, and support issue tracking, troubleshooting, and escalation as needed.
    • Assist in documenting system changes, processes, and support procedures to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps and functional departments, to support system updates and resolve issues impacting users.
  • Training – Partner with Student Success and Orientation teams to deliver Banner training that helps new and returning students successfully navigate systems at the start of each term.
    • Assist with documentation and training materials to support faculty and staff use of student systems.
    • Contribute to a collaborative, student-focused team environment while developing technical and functional skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic understanding of business processes and interest in systems analysis.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn from both technical and functional teams.
  • Ability to follow direction, manage tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.
  • Commitment to supporting a positive student and faculty experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 0–2 years of experience in higher education, business operations, or technology support.
  • Interest in student information systems, data, and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exposure to Banner SaaS.
  • Internship or entry-level experience in higher education, IT, or business analysis.
  • Familiarity with process documentation, testing, or system support.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • This position requires a criminal background check, which may include a Level II screening as required by Florida Statute §435.04.
  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:       This position is salary exempt.  The normal work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., however, occasional overtime (weekends and evenings) may be required.   Travel between campus locations may be required.

TARGET HIRING SALARY: $57,800-$62,900 commensurate with experience.
