The College of Pharmacy is looking for a Research Scientist to serve as a member of the Pharmaceutical Sciences team in College Station, TX. What You Need to Know

Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.

Location/Schedule: College Station, TX/ Full-Time; This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends

Required Education and Experience

  •  PhD in Biology or related area

  • Six years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid experience in at least several of these disciplines that includes: stem cell, exosome, EVs, organoid, microrna, lncrna, histone, methylation, molecular and cell biology, epigenetics, mouse model, and bioinformatics skills.

  • Research experience in metabolic disorders specifically diabetes and obesity

  • Significant publications record in high impact journal

  • Ability to independently run projects

  • Experience in a highly dynamic lab of several postdocs, students, and professional students.

  • Experience designing novel experiments and concept in several basic, translational, and clinical projects in metabolic diseases and pregnancy disorders

  • Good computer literacy including databases, standard software platforms, sequencing analysis, spread sheets and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

Research

  • Will be responsible for conducting complex independent research into their field of expertise.

  • Utilizes advanced knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and experience to complete research projects in their field of expertise. 

  • Oversees the preparation and cleaning of worksite.

  • Organizes worksite and determines what supplies are necessary to continue research in an effective manner.

  • Analyzes research data and summarizes results.

  • Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications.

  • Assists with grant acquisition.

  • Assist with development and implementation of new experimental procedures, concept, and grants.

  • Maintain electronic data base with experimental protocols and laboratory procedures: PowerPoint presentations.


Mentoring/Supervision

  • May assist student researchers, Postdoctoral Research Associates, Assistant Research Scientists, and/or Associate Research Scientists who are working on research related to the project.

  • May supervise assigned staff and/or students.


Presentations

  • Prepares presentation materials on research topics that may be presented to small and/or large groups.

  • Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.

  • Manuscript preparations in a timely manner


Laboratory Operations

  • Manage overall operations of research laboratory.

  • Order and maintain inventories of laboratory supplies, instruments, and basic equipment as needed.

  • Coordinates with others for laboratory operations as needed.
