Why join us?
Visual Eyes Group is dedicated to ensuring access to first‑class eye care for patients of all ages across six Maryland locations. The practice delivers full‑scope optometric services with a strong emphasis on both primary eye care and medical optometry, including comprehensive eye exams, contact lens services (including specialty lenses), and the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye conditions. Visual Eyes Group prioritizes preventive care and early detection through the use of advanced diagnostic technology, supported by modern equipment such as OCT, retinal imaging, digital refraction systems, and fully integrated EHRs. Known for its patient‑centered approach, collaborative team culture, and commitment to clinical excellence, the practice continues to grow thoughtfully while providing a supportive, well‑resourced environment where Optometrists can deliver high‑quality care and serve diverse communities.
What you'll do:
As the newest Optometrist, you’ll provide comprehensive eye and vision care to patients of all ages, delivering both routine vision services and medical optometry. The role includes performing thorough eye examinations, diagnosing refractive errors, prescribing glasses and contact lenses, and diagnosing, managing, and treating ocular conditions such as glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. You’ll use advanced diagnostic technology to support accurate assessments and high‑quality care, educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and preventative care, and maintain timely, accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) system. Working closely with opticians, technicians, and administrative staff, you’ll contribute to an efficient workflow and positive patient experiences. Staying current with clinical advancements through continuing education and adhering to all ethical, clinical, and regulatory standards is expected. This is a 40‑hour position, with opportunities to support care across multiple locations, offering variety and flexibility in day‑to‑day practice.
Who you are:
The ideal candidate is a licensed Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) with a degree from an accredited optometry school and eligibility to practice in the state of Maryland. This role requires strong clinical skills in performing comprehensive eye exams, diagnosing and managing ocular disease, prescribing corrective lenses, and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Candidates should be confident managing both routine vision care and medical optometry cases, with experience in contact lens evaluations and fittings; familiarity with specialty contact lenses is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to educate patients, build trust, and collaborate effectively with clinical teams and leadership. The successful candidate demonstrates professionalism, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-location environment. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and modern optometric equipment is required. While prior clinical experience is preferred, motivated new graduates with a strong foundation in optometry, a team-oriented mindset, and a commitment to continuous learning are encouraged to apply.
Why you'll love Maryland:
Maryland’s greater Washington, D.C. metro area offers an attractive blend of convenience, diversity, and lifestyle. Communities such as Clinton, Hyattsville, Frederick, Mitchellville, Greenbelt, and Silver Spring provide access to suburban comfort, urban energy, and rapidly growing neighborhoods—all within an easy commute. The region is well connected by major highways and commuter routes, making travel throughout the area manageable. Living near Washington, D.C. also means proximity to world‑class dining, arts, entertainment, history, and cultural attractions. With housing options ranging from quiet suburban neighborhoods to vibrant city settings, the area supports a balanced and flexible lifestyle for individuals and families alike.
You’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:
- Competitive benefits package for full‑time employees
- 401(k) with employer match up to 3% of salary
- Paid time off, including:
- Sick leave: 3 paid days per year (available after 90 days; doctor’s note required; no carryover)
