The department of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Research Associate 1 to work onsite on the UHealth campus. The Research Associate 1 supports clinical, community-based, and implementation-focused research activities at the RAPID Program within the Division of Infectious Diseases, with a primary focus on HIV prevention, sexual health, and related public health studies conducted through clinic-embedded and community-facing research initiatives. Under supervision, the incumbent assists with participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, informed consent, data collection and analysis, study visit coordination, follow-up tracking, and maintenance of study records in accordance with IRB-approved protocols, institutional policies, HIPAA, and Good Clinical Practice standards. This position involves direct interaction with research participants, clinic patients, and multidisciplinary clinical and research staff in support of human subjects research conducted in ambulatory, community, and mobile health/outreach settings.

- Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
- Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
- Keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within the area of research.
- Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens or tissue cultures.
- Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.
- Performs a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies.
- Performs calculations to complete research test results, collects data, and performs statistical analysis of laboratory results.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required
- CITI certification in Human Subjects Research and Good Clinical Practice must be completed as required by institutional policy
- Experience in clinical research, public health research, patient-facing roles, community outreach, or healthcare settings is preferred.
- Experience working with diverse patient or community populations is strongly preferred.
- Experience with REDCap, Network Canvas, and/or similar electronic data capture systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of clinical research practices and principles, some medical terminology, and human subjects research procedures is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
