Our Munitions teams in Benalla and Mulwala produce propellants, explosives and munitions for defence and commercial uses. With ongoing investment into research and development, we produce some of the world’s most high-performing guided weapons and explosive ordnance systems. Your role

The Project Accountant is responsible for financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, project tracking, bid & proposal finance, financial engineering, completing periodic reports and general program tasks.

Working from our Melbourne Office in the World Trade Centre on Wurundjeri land, your role purpose will be:

  • Assist in the coordination of all financial accounting accountabilities including end of month and annual external reporting
  • Preparation and review of 6 monthly statutory accounts including interfaces with Thales Australia Corporate Finance and auditors
  • Supporting Sales and Bid Management by making financial assessments on new opportunities
  • Forecasting for all monthly and multi-year budgets
  • Monthly travel to Benella and Mulwala sites
     

Your experience

  • Bachelor or Commerce in Accounting, Business or Finance, CPA/CA (or working towards)
  • Ideally have 5 years’ experience n a bids and projects controller position
  • Demonstrated experience managing reporting and 6 monthly audits for two sites
  • Broad range of experience in the Finance function
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and perform under pressure while maintaining high attention to detail
     

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.
