Highlights:
Summary: The Endoscopy Technician is responsible to assist with endoscopy procedures and scope care and handling. The Technician will function as a member of the Endoscopy team. This individual shall be responsible to set up and turn over assigned cases, and maintain a sterile field, if required. This individual will need an understanding of the principles of aseptic technique and sterilization. Additionally, the Technician will perform a variety of tasks such as care of equipment/instruments, supplies, as well as to stock, clean, inventory, etc. The Technician must adhere strictly to all OSHA, SNGA and other regulatory standards and guidelines, safety, and infection control policies. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.
Education / Experience: High School graduate or equivalent required. Endoscopy or OR experience preferred. Completion of a certified patient care technician/nursing assistant program, certified OR technician program, or acceptable on the job training program. License / Certification: BLS required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Completion of a certified technician program or acceptable on the job training program • Possesses interpersonal skills • Ability to communicate appropriately, verbal or written
Work Conditions/Physical Requirements: Position requires: Sitting 10%, Walking 30%, Standing 60% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Frequent noise exposure. Much exposure to computer work. Involves high levels of stress. Mechanical and electrical exposure due to equipment (i.e. phone, copier, computer, fax machine, endoscopy equipment, and sterilizers). Exposure to dust, marker fumes, copier toner and other related/hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
